Long time since I have been to this forum again, since i swapped my XJ for SV650. But i still lurk around here from time to time... One year ago my wife bought another suzuki for a very low price. It had much bodywork to do and the frame had rust everywhere. At first i thought the engine was the only thing that was still in good condition, but after my wife rode the bike it started making weird knocking sounds. I immediately feared the conrod bearing... and so the project began..

The bike looked like this when she bought it .

Valve clearences needed checking. Luckily i got the clearences correct with just swapping two shims with each other and that was it.

And the source of the knocking sound! Luckily again the cranckshaft had no damage, and was in correct measurements when cheking. The conrod on the other hand took most of the damage, and needed to be replaced. I bought new big end bearings and a used conrod from bike scrapyard.

THe muffler needed some of my well known muffler improvement skills :D

I dindn't take pics of what had been done with the muffler when she bought it, but it looked horrible.. it had drill holes and some ''proper'' welding job done to it :D
