Sorry if this is a dumb problem but I need a little help. A couple weeks ago I came out of class and the enrichment lever wouldn't stay in position at all. I had to hold it open while the bike warmed up for a couple minutes. Now the lever feels really loose and spins freely in place. The metal spring that catches in the grooves on the pin was bent down, so I tried to bend it back up a bit. Now it still slips from the full open position and only stays in the half position.
I started using a clothespin to hold it open in the full open position. That was working for a while, but now suddenly the bike will not stay running at all with the lever pulled all the way out. It will idle in the second position for a minute, then I have to give it some throttle to keep it running. If I pull the lever out more, the engine dies.
I tried turning the idle up which will keep the bike idling in the half position but it still doesn't run in the full open at all. This works fine until the engine gets hot after riding a couple miles and the idle shoots up from ~1250 to ~2500-3000 and I have to turn the idle back down.
I'm wondering if these are two unrelated problems or maybe some part of the enrichment system is broken.
They started at about the same time and before all of this the bike was starting just fine with the enrichment system.
