Front brake lever broken?

As the title says, I think my front brake lever is broken. I have fluid in my reservoir, but when I squeeze in the lever nothing happens, there's no resistance like a brake lever should have, and my front brakes do not engage. It just squeaks. Maybe something inside the lever is broken? If I pull it off and take it apart what should I be looking for to fix or examine for damage?
