Well today I sucked it up and loosened the cam so I could get the one valve shim out that had no clearance. this is scary territory for me. I took a suggestion from Cake and zip tied the timing chain to the cam so I wouldn't screw it up. popped them all out and I have the following measurements:
INTAKE
.006 .004 .0005 .007
288 288 282 272
so I need:
288 283 267 275
The exhaust was right at the lower edge of spec, so I'm tempted not to play with them.
I will have to order a new gasket for the chain tensioner, valve cover and the shims. also putting in a new air and fuel filter.
