Guys I just had to share this story, and some lessons learned. I bought my 1992 XJ about 18 months ago, it was in running condition. It was like so many others very hard to get to warm up, it was do for a chain and sprockets, front breaks, and a new front tire, and the brake light was staying on. so this is where the story takes a turn, I had reconnected with a old shipmate from my Coast Guard days on social media. He was in a job he hated and wanted to get a small bike shop going. so I told him of my new purchase he says no problem you get the parts we need and I will be glad to do take a couple weeks at most. I never once asked what it would cost I was happy to be helping him get started.
Well I purchased, a new front tire, chain and sprockets, rear shock, brake pads, number 20 carb jets, new gel battery, oil, filters and other basics. this weekend I am going to pick up my XJ the chain and the sprockets was that got done in a few days under a year. because he was a friend and allways had a sad family story I let it drag out for a year. now I will be doing the things it needs myself, please I am going to pre apologize for the onslaught of questions that I am sure I will be asking.
Lesson Learned, whats the old saying friends and family are the first to let you down but now IM ready I am going to roll
my sleaves up and got to work.
wish me luck and thankyou all for letting me vent a little
