[*]ok, so my 94 xj 600s decided to drop it's guts as I was filtering. I was changing gear down to 2nd, hoping to get there fairly quickly as my lever was on the verge if breaking (the hole where the retaining bolt sits had warped and worn egg shaped)
Bike cuts out, cant shift it into neutral as I'm still in 3rd. A friend rescues me and zips off on my bike, leaving me with the keys to his 955i. That was fun... Not!
Got my bike home, and the new clutch lever and cable arrive... Except there is too much free play, no matter what we do. We tried 4 different cables of different length, and nothing is working. Instead of 2-3mm free play at the pivot, the clutch doesn't engage until it's practically on the bars.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Helpful hints?
I found a small bolt underneath the clutch return springy thing that attaches to the cable end... That goes through a full 90 degree turn before it stops moving...
