My bike has a VH 4-1 exhaust that is extremely rusty. One of the flanges is rust-welded to the pipe, and it's making it impossible to get it to seal properly, hence I have an exhaust leak on Cylinder 1. Also overall I'm not sure how long the rest of the exhaust will last.
I'd really like to stick with a 4-1 system as I like the sound & weight reduction, however, after months of looking I've yet to see one pop up on eBay or elsewhere that isn't brand new (and hence costs $400).
I did see this one on eBay which the seller lists as for a 1983 XJ600: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XJ-600-1 ... r#rpdCntId
However, from my research it looks like the XJ600 didn't make an appearance until 1984. Also, the exhaust looks different from the one pictured. Do you think he has this exhaust mislabeled and it's actually for a Seca II?
Second - I'd be comfortable chopping and rewelding the exhaust if needed. If indeed that exhaust I posted from eBay is for an 80's FJ600 do you think the diameter of the pipes would fit into the Seca II exhaust port on the head? From looking at the RonAyers fiche the same part number is used for the exhaust gaskets for the FJ600 and the Seca II, so I'm thinking yes.
