Hi guys,

So I'm running around on a '95 (N reg) XJ600N and as of late the key slips out of the ignition when in the "on" position. I'd been riding around with the key in my pocket, but decided recently to purchase a new ignition switch to replace it with.

As far as I'm aware, the steering lock on the 1995 model, at least on mine, is located on the left of the frame. But every ignition switch I've seen - eBay, Wemoto etc. - seems to have the steering lock on the ignition switch. I purchased one of these, thinking it was the wrong picture (I believe the S model Div. has the lock on the ignition switch) but it turns out the picture was correct!

As a result, I have an ignition switch that will not fit because the sheared security screw holes are a lot lower on my top yoke and older switch than they are on the new switch.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did the N model switch to an ignition switch steering lock some time in 1995? Or is every dealer of ignition switches merely selling the wrong product?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me mad.

D
