rejet kit

Is it possible to do the factory rejet and still have the bike run decent? Everytime I hear about someone rejetting it never runs good after. I still have the stock filter setup but was thinking about upgrading to pod uni filters andbthen rejet. I already have the v&h 4-1 exhaust and it runs great without rejetting.
