im stumped

guys I am sorry I know I have ask a bunch of questions, but I have stumbled on something I can fiqure out. when I bough my xj the PO had installed a 4 into 1 exhaust with a Suzuki bandit muffler, it looks great and sounds decent, but it was hitting on the axle nut ( not sure if that's the right word) and had knocked a hole in the side of the muffler. I took the muffler off and had it welded. we also dented the muffler in a small amount where the axle nut comes close. but its still hitting I tried to put some spacers on it, but they just pushed the bracket back instead of the muffler out. I am going to put a few pics up any ideas would be great even bad ones. thankyou
