My bike actually does have the stock mufflers currently, but someone has removed the baffling from inside. I didn't realize it until I heard radare's bike next to mine and heard just how quiet the stock exhaust is on these. Here are some sound files I recorded today of my current exhaust.

Warm idle - This is a start and idle after a 3 mile ride. Recording starts ~15 feet directly behind, recorder is picked up for a walk around the bike, and then set down in the same position for a few revs.

Flybys - Several flybys at various rpms between 4000 and 6500. I usually operate at ~5000. There are a couple gear changes, and the first takeoff is moderately quick. Recorder was ~15 feet from the road, pointed perpendicular to it. Track is clipped to shorten duration between flybys.

Onboard - A few miles with the recorder in the tankbag. This was more an experiment of the recorder than anything else, but it turned out ok. It's actually weirdly close to how it sounds to me with earplugs in and a helmet on. Road is decently curvy, and most curves are posted between 15 and 20 mph. Rpms range from 4000 to about 7500, with the most consistent engine speed around 5500 to 6000.

Everything was recorded with a Tascam DR-07 MkII field recorder with gain at 50%. Files were processed in Audacity and amplified a little bit.

I hope to get the (fingers crossed) unmolested pair of stock mufflers on this weekend and will replicate all tests as soon as I can. I really hope I don't have to get into the carbs after this...
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
