Hello XJ Riders,
It's finally getting warm out here and I'm currently trying to change the oil in my XJ600 in preparation for the riding season. However, the aftermarket exhaust on my motorcycle restricts access to the drain plug. So I originally unbolted the headers in an attempt to remove it but hit a stop when one of the clips was physically stuck on a header bolt. So I just figured I had all winter to worry about that and now winter is over.
So i asked a few people more mechanically savvy than i and one suggested that i siphon the oil out. Now my question is has anyone here had success siphoning oil out of the fill cap or maybe possibly out of the side plug? I just tried but was unsuccessful so before go anymore ham i figured id see if it's even possible!
I guess my biggest issue is getting the thin siphon hose i have to reach the oil reserve.
Also I should note I have a siphon-pump
Any help and tips would be appreciated!
