I bought a 92 Xj600 recently and I'm really excited about it. Straight body, clean title, new tires, current reg all for $950. I have ridden dirt bikes for years and ready to get into street bikes.

My new seca just has one little problem: needs a carb rebuild (won't hold idle). The parts are getting so expensive that I am really considering just buying a brand new one I see some Yamaha parts warehouses they're still available from for about $500. Considering that a rebuilt one is $350 I would almost rather spend a little more and get a brand new set.

I'm not sure though if my bike originally had CA carbs or not. It is a Ca bike but it doesn't have the recirculating loop I see in the ca diagram. Possibly because it originally came from elsewhere or possibly just that a previous owner lost or removed it (the previous owner def tried to rebuild the carbs because a lot of screws are stripped).

so my question: 1992 seca even if it originally had the CA carbs would run fine with other 49 state carb right? I'm pretty sure it would but neither anyone at my local Yamaha dealer or anyone at a local parts yard that sells rebuilt carbs knows.

Anyway this forum is really great and has already helped me a bunch. Regards from Sacramento.
