So, the other day on the way to work it was a pretty hot day (I say hot as for the UK it really was hot, 17c!).
I arrived at work 17mile trip and decided to actually lock my bike with the chain from under the seat.
When I removed the seat I heard a tiny sizzle noise, I instantly looked at the battery and could see that the rubber cover had risen ever so slightly so I pushed it back down and to my surprise it was boiling hot.
I also remembered that the other day the bike had a dead battery when I went to start it from cold so was putting two and two together and thought is there an electrical fault on the bike? My instant guess is yes there is, but the question is where the heck would it be? Could it simply be a faulty earth cable or maybe worse.
I currently have no way of checking the wires etc but hopefully the hardware store is open tomorrow and I'll buy a voltage reader and start testing.
Are there any known area's on the XJ's wiring loom that are known to cause this type of problem?
Thanks,
Rafen.
