From over the pond
I'm new to the forum, my everyday ride is/was a honda cbr1000rr fireblade 2005. However I've had an ongoing back injury and beginning to struggle everyday riding it even with a renthal bar conversion.
So in comes a xj600 diversion, long story short I brought it as a everyday work bike for commuting however I've feel for it's simple low powered charms which in todays world of huge horsepower and electronics reminds you 60hp and a decent chassis is all you need to have fun.
I've been riding nearly every day for 10 years, do track days on the CBR throughout the summer and visit the TT most years..
It is a 2001 twin disc model. I'm now looking to improve it slightly I've been reading the forum non stop for 3 days and though i'd now join.
Plans are as follows:
Cut/ re weld subframe to sit a little higher and move body over front end a little more
FZR 4" rear wheel 3HE (got this ready to go in 160/60/18 brand new tyre fitted
Dragstar 650 rear shock, however I'm looking at a 2008 CBF600 rear shock which has much better damping etc and looks like it may fit it's also from a direct action rear swingarm and roughly same weight bike.
I guess my big question is front wheel, as I have 41mm twin disc forks is there a wider front wheel that will slot in, the yzf600 thundercat wheel looks remarkably close anybody got thoughts on this..
