So I've been thinking of doing the naked conversion on my XJ600SF for a while now. Bought some of radare's v1 headlight brackets, found some of the black side covers on eBay UK, and have been slowly putting my ideas together. I've not done much lately, as my wife and I are cutting back on spending for a while (not that I'm in a rush anyway, really).
My best friend has purchased a 3-D printer which will arrive soon. radare sent me a PDF of the gauge layout from his previous iteration on his naked Seca, which I was going to somewhat replicate with a 3-D printed gauge housing. However I recently had another idea: what if I used the stock gauges within the fairing of my bike, and fabricated a rear housing for them, to isolate them from the weather?
Any thoughts on this? It'd have to be weather-sealed of course, but all the measurements can be taken once I get the fairing apart. I wouldn't want the cluster to be too unsightly though. It looks like the gauges can be pulled out of the outer fairing/shell portion, at which point I'd think that I could design something to contain them.
