
Better picture of the wires.

Looks like they took some souvenirs of their failure.

If you look at the remaining connector wire, it is stripped as opposed to just cut clean like the top wires. This leads me to believe that someone was trying to hotwire the bike as opposed to simply vandalizing it.

So I looked in the owner's manual to find out what exactly I'm working with. The closest I could find is this diagram of the charging system, which says that the 3 wires connect the rectifier to the stator. I think this is correct, if only because I made the mistake of running the bike with the wires cut, and I ran out the battery.


I'm sure the would-be thief had fun trying to get the bike to start that way.
So obviously I have to fix the wires before replacing the battery. My question is, do I have to pull apart the large black wire cluster (top left of picture #2) in order to replace the white wires entirely? Or can I get away with splicing new ends onto where they were cut? I'm not even sure where I'd find replacements; hopefully the auto store has them.
Secondly, is there a particular configuration that these wires have to go in? They're all white and the manual doesn't say anything about them needing to be plugged in a specific way.
