This might be the one.
The final hit that might put my bike out of service. It happened late on Friday as soon as I was on my way home after work. Halfway through my commute I heard a knocking sound coming from the crankcase.
I went to bed with the thought in my mind that it could possibly be something as simple as the cam chain tension. There was a horrible dream of valves and pistons slapping together that I awoke from. So on my way to work the following day (Saturday)...short of arriving to my location. Amongst the horrifying knocking sound there was a loader, much more vivid popping and tapping sound stemming from my machine. It was serious damage. Sadness still comes to mind as I type this catastrophic event.
Bent valves and blown head gasket haunt my mind, possibly caused by a loose rod cap nut (or 2) allowing the piston to slap and bend the valves. Still unsure if this is the cause for such said damage but judging from the spits of oil on my shoes...yeah! Serious damage.
I will begin the tear down by checking for compression on all 4 pistons then pulling the oil sump to visible check for damage.
Wish me Fortune and Luck!
