starts but wont run

Hello i have a 1992 seca II. I bought the bike about 3 mounth ago. The bike wouldnt start it was sitting for a long time. My guess is since 2002 considering the tages expired then. So i did a complete carb rebuild replaced the boots and some hoses. I also did a rust removel from the gas tank. I bought a new battery and i gave everything a scrubbing. Today i finally finished everything and put it back together everything was going good till i started it. It turned on and was idling but when i tried to rev it just slightly it would just shut off and now it wont even start. Does anyone think they can help me? Im completely stumped.
