Went to start the bike and the starter just spun no engagement at all. I put the bike in gear and pushed backward....it sounds as if the starter stays constantly engaged. ...i pulled the starter off the bike and looked at the internal gear ( im not actually sure what the name of the gear is that the starter spins?) There were probably 10 teeth missing! I bench tested the starter and it spins good but the shaft stays out and never retracts like the bindex on acar starter.
1) how much of a pain is changing that internal gear going to be?
2) is the bindex on the bike starter supposed to stay out constantly?
