LED indicator lights

I am wondering about fitting LED indicators to the XJ. After all, they give a bit more light and we can use anything that will make cars notice us more. On the other hand, I have been replacing my right rear bulb again today and I feel like that is a problem I can do without and one LED's might cure.

The guys at the local motorcycle shop said that it is a hard swap as the relays are not up to it and the bulbs give a different resistance than LED lights. Who has done this and how hard was it. Also, any thoughts on fitting LED 'driving lights' that will be always on when the bike is running? Am thinking about something like that around the headlight unit.
