I'm in the process of rebuilding my carbs and when inspecting the needles I noticed that one of the tips is flat.

The PO had been taking the bike to a shop to have the carbs cleaned and 2 of the acorn nuts were previously broken off and half-assedly improvised solutions were put in place.

I'm guessing that one of the replacement acorn nuts that they used was too short and the tip of the needle was hitting the inside of the acorn nut, causing the needle tip to flatten.

How important is that point at the end of the needle? I don't quite know enough about carbs to say, but my instinct tells me I should replace it - it's just that I also have an internal debate over how much $ I want to put into a bike that I bought for $950.
