After 20 years of my Seca being in service @ 16000 miles it is finally time for its first full tune up. The previous owners of this bike took very good care of it. Making sure that it had all of the necessary maintenance and oil changes were complete. There were records that came with the bike that show all of the service done on the bike since 92. The oil changes were written on the back of oil filter box tabs and include the mileage and date of the oil change. The chain however had been worn out when I purchased the bike and I was planning on changing it around May. I started hearing noises on Thursday of last week but didn't pinpoint the location until Friday. I realized when I was riding home that it was chain slap. When I got home I inspected the chain and found it to be extremely loose

I had already adjusted the chain out as far as it would go so the loose chain now tells me I need to replace it. I was planning on doing a full tune up on it in February so I just decided while the bike was not going to be ride able until I replaced the chain I would go ahead and do all the work that I needed to do. The plan is to do a valve adjustment, infrared thermometer tune, and carb sync. The first step is to remove my fairing, seat, and battery and drain the fuel tank.

mmmm..hmmm
Next would be to remove the fuel tank:

Easy as pie...
And next comes the air box:

And finally the carbs and valve cover:

This was the easiest tank removal ever! I didnt spill a drop of gas.
I figured out why my reserve switch wasnt working properly; the stem for the primary fuel line had came out of its hole and was laying at the bottom of the tank so that the ON position was actually lower than the reserve.
I was not planning on getting into the inner carb parts at all since I have been running the bike for the last 6 months without a single problem I figured they are clean and in good operating condition.
I need to take valve measurements and drill the plugs for the carb adjustments.
Parts List:
Valve Cover Gasket (Thanks forum for the heads up on the $20 gaskets on ebay a couple weeks ago)
Valve Shims (shim pool maybe :poke: )
Temp gun (hoping I can borrow one from the school)
Fan for Temp Gun Tune (IN STOCK)
New Chain (open to suggestions, looking for a reasonably priced good chain)
Is there anything else that I should do while im into the bike? Note that im on a shoestring budget so suggestions need to follow as such.
