I'm not new to the forums but I have yet to formerly introduced myself. Feel free to call me Merc. I've been riding motorcycles for about 3 years now. My first bike was a 94 Yamaha FZR600. The 96 Yamaha XJ600SH is what I own and ride currently. I picked it up in a trade last fall. Sadly the owner kept away garaged for 10 years, non running, after a minor accident.
But since this past May, I have been slowly working on it trying to restore it to its former glory. At first I was just going to get it road worthy and ride it a season. But I've kinda grown emotionally attached to it. Its been a goal of mine to learn how to work on motorcycles for quite some time. Well, because of the XJ and this forum, my dreams are coming to fruition. I've made a ton of mistakes, but I'll tell ya what. I've learnt so much more from those mistakes than I would if everything went the way it was suppose to. I refuse to go to a shop to get work done. So far I've done all of the follow this past summer, minus the tire change, in which I took to a shop to have them mount and balance.
