Can I loosen the camshafts?

Hey all, I'm in the process of adjusting the valves on my 2nd XJ. I'm doing it the same way as I did on the other bike, but a couple of the exhaust valves are CRAZY tight, and I can't get the shims out. Maybe I'm just not man enough :oops: Could I loosen the camshafts just a hair easily enough?
