So...what are the odds my bike would start o.k., idle well and have bang on exhaust temps without o-rings and washers under the pilot needle spring?

The ONLY issue I had all last season was a bit of a warm up time in the mornings, temp independent, longer if the mornings were crisp. This winter it seemed like it was running short a cylinder on fire up. Then it would catch. Other than that the bike ran like a top, and always idled fine once warm.

I figured I'd have a look at the offending cylinders carb (#4) while I was checking out and cleaning the enrichment circuits across the board. When it came time to do the pilot screw, i figured I'd swap out the o-rings for new and nothing was coming out. I grabbed the four extra carb bodies that I have, popped the o-rings and washers in less than a second. I got those out with a bent needle. Went back to the rack off the bike and tried again...nada. I then took and awl that I have and slightly bent the tip, still nothing came out.

I'm kind of at a loss here because I really shouldn't have been able to tune the bike so well, at least I don't think I should have. I couldn't see any difference down the tube, between the extra carb bodies and the rack off the bike before I pulled the washers/rings from the extra set, and I couldn't really see any difference after the washers were out. The "needle seat" looked the same to me.

Right now the tubes are soaking and I'll have another go but I really don't want to scratch anything up while I'm digging around.

All thoughts are welcome at this point
