first off, hello everyone, nice to meet you all.
i just got myself a 93 seca 2 a few days back and its a pretty sad little mount at the moment. it ran like crap, and barely made the ten mile drive to my house. hard to start, horrible clutch basket(i think?) rattle, and it seems like one or more cylinders is misfiring, or not firing at all.
i have cleaned the carbs, which were packed full of gunk, and that definitely helped it run. set the idle screws to 2.5 turns out. and cut and reattached the plug cap on the #1 cylinder.
this all has made a definite improvement over what it was, but the bike is still running pretty badly.
now it will start up and run, although it runs pretty erratically at idle, then in the mid to high rpms it runs smoothly. im thinking maybe spark is still prety weak. also it tends to hang out for a second or two when i rev it up, before dropping down to its horrible idle.
also, after a few minutes the bike warms up and starts burning oil. not a lot at first, but theres more and more smoke the longer it runs. it only comes out the right side muffler though, which tells me its either cylinder one or four that is burning oil.
i think i am hearing a chirping sound when it runs, which could indicate a blown head gasket. do these bikes have oil passages that would let oil into the combustion chamber when a gasket failure occurs?
i know its a lot to answer, but any help will be greatly appreciated.
