Engine stops while accelerating

I've had my XJ for about 2 weeks now. Its my daily rider. Today, while going home from work, the engine quits while I'm accelerating from 4th to 5th. Its like you pushed the engine stop button. I've had to glide to the side of the road, switch everything off for awhile, restart & it goes on like normal. I suspect it had to do with the wiring system. It happened to my old ninja & I've had to change to a new wiring harness, keys & all. Anybody had similar problems? Any ideas? I do not want my XJ to stall on me in the middle of nowhere.
