So I'm doing a valve clearance check and my local Motorcycle said they could just swap me new shims but I needed to bring the old ones in first in order to exchange. So to do this I had to pull the cams off the bike. I didn't remove them all the way out just took the caps off and popped them up to get the shims out. The Haynes manual I has says to coat them in assembly lube or some moly grease, before re-assembly, neither of which i have. I could see the need if they were brand new cams but the old ones are still soaked in the oil. Do I really need to get some assembly lube on there before putting them back in there place?
