Hi all, looking for a little help. I had purchased a 1993 xj600 (title says 93 frame says 92). Idler gear was gone. I finished the replacement of the idler gear and have got everything buttoned back up. As I can tell I have no spark.
Some info on the bike and me. I purchased it off CL for $200 as a first bike for myself. I have never worked on a bike, but have a lot of experience on small engine's and vehicles (especially my 86Runner!!!). Bike would not turn over when I looked at it due to idler gear failure. Starter is fine but the started relay is shot so I jump the relay with a screwdriver. Batter is dead so I am jumping it from my truck. It is missing a rear blinker. Headlight works, horn works, taillight works, but brake light does not, blinkers do not work. All fuses are good. I cleaned all harnesses and did not find any damaged or lose wires. Battery ground in connected to an engine bolt. It is in neutral, switched to run, kickstand down. Turns over great.
Trying to trouble shoot this without dumping a lot of money into it. I have a mulimeter to test with, but do not know where to start. I read over a couple trouble shooting write-ups, but just want some idea's from experienced people. I also have a copy of the FSM.
