Long story short, I have a steady idle, bike starts up fine with no smoke, but exhaust temps on #1 and #3 cylinders are showing around 150-170 from 4 down to 1 turn on the pilot fuel screws. These temps seem awfully low, is it possible my IR gun is busted? I know they're running because after I removed the plug wires on those cylinders, I could barely get the bike to start. After a little tuning, throttle is very responsive, and I have #2 and #4 running at a steady 460-480, with a slight rpm hang after blipping the throttle.

A couple days ago I rigged up an empty window cleaner bottle as a temporary fuel container while tuning the fuel screws on the my carbs. This is after removing all of the brass parts and soaking them in carb cleaner. At this time, I couldn't quite get the exhaust temp for cylinder #3 above about 260 degrees. The next morning, I tried it again, and the bike was struggling to idle. I noticed some floaties had developed in my fuel bottle :wallbash:

Perhaps the gasoline had started to dissolve the bottle overnight?

Anyway, after checking that the float bowls were getting enough fuel, I proceeded to remove the jets and give them another cleaning. After putting it all back together, I acquired a longer hose to reach the fuel tank on top of a shelf, to avoid the plastic nonsense. Can some explain to me how the pilot fuel screws work? Where does the mixture they control come through? Perhaps I missed something.
