Long story short, I just moved cross-country. The key was in the bikes when I rolled it off the truck and into the garage. Sometime during the ensuing frenzy of unloading, the key vanished into the ether. It's been two weeks now and it has not materialized as I'd hoped. And of course this was the only key I've had for six year, and at no point during that period did I do anything smart - for example, making a copy of the thing.
So...I ran across this guy on eBay who will make new keys if you provide him with the key code. He has some generic guidelines as to where to find the code, but also mentions that about half of the post-1990 Yamahas don't have key codes. Does anyone know for sure if I might find this code on the bike and where?
I suppose I could pull the ignition and take it to a local locksmith too, but that seems somewhat annoying...
