Seca folk,

I just acquired a '92 Seca II and have questions I hope some of you can answer:

1) How does the front brake line route? Mine seems overlong at about 36", looping up from the master cylinder, going between the bars and the upper triple tree, down the right fork tube, across to the left then to the caliper. This didn't seem stock to me yet the bike only has 7100 miles on it with signs of great care. Don't know if Yamaha used up lines for other bikes or whether this was put on later. Nonetheless, I will replace the brake lines. I believe I could run the front line down the right fork, over to the left and to the caliper -- or -- across the top to to the left triple tree then down to the caliper. How are yours routed?

2) I don't know if the valves have been set or not but before I do carb jetting, I should set the valves. I know shims are often available on Ebay but I have no idea what range of shim sizes to buy or for what bike -- are all Yamaha shim over shims the same?

3) I looked at the valve adjustment thread fully photographed on your site which said that the lobes should point 180 degrees from the shim, yet my Clymer manual says they should face away from the lifters. 180 degrees makes sense, but the curve of the lobe should accommodate the Clymer advice, should it not?

I've got more questions about rear suspension, carb tuning and fork braces (where to get one) but any help on these three would be great.

Anyone may reply off list if they like.

Thanks,

lkallery@centurytel.net
