Hi Guys,

I've been reading about the pilot screw settings, using the IR thermometer, etc. I have a slightly different question. First, this bike is new to me. I have never really heard it run, except for a minute or two with the choke on. I am flying a little blind here. The plugs have been pulled, so the screws were adjusted at some time in the past. they were set at 2.0/2.0/0.0/2.0. I find that to be somewhat unusual. it leads me to believe that a PO simply set everything at 2.0, but forgot to turn the third screw out. the other three screws set at exactly 2.0 cannot be a coincidence. Do you guys agree?

now on to my issue. I need to start somewhere. I think I should start at 2/2/2/2. my new problem is that the screw head on #1 is buggered. I cannot get it to turn all the way in. based on counting from the top, I think it is at about 3 turns out. I am currently at (approx) 3/2/2/2. I am tempted to leave it like that, but I am wondering if I should go to 3/3/3/3,both to even up the carbs and since I understand these things run a little lean at idle.

I may also try just cutting a new slot in the screw.I may also just buy a new one, but I would like to see if I can get this one to work.

thanks,
Jim Moore
