I'm mike from Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)
A few weeks ago I was in the market for a new bike, and a colleague mentioned they had an XJ laid up in the garage.
At first I wasn't keen but agreed to have a look at it, the XJ not a bike I had really considered before.
Glad I did - I was presented with a 1997 XJ600N in black with brand new Bridgestone Battlax tyres, new front caliper, new starter and a stainless 4-1 motad nexxus system. Oh and LOTS of dust.
A trailer was borrowed, and the bike transported the 30 miles home to my house. Picture below shows it when it arrived home, not the best shot in the world!!
First priority was starting the thing - I drained the tank and fitted a new battery. I was expecting to have to strip and clean the carbs but thought I would try and turn it over first........she turned over for a few seconds and roared into life, which was a nice surprise.
Over here we've to do an annual MOT inspection, which the bike passed and after that all I've done is an oil and filter change, and lots of riding....here she is waiting outside the MOT centre:
Really impressed with the bike, only thing is the front brake which is a bit spongy which I've put down to the bike sitting laid up for 3 years and maybe moisture getting into the fluid.
I will change the fluid soon and add a braided hose to try and improve performance a touch.
edited to add two (crap!) pictures, ill get a proper camera session if it ever stops raining
