An Idle threat.

So I'm loving my new and much improved 92. I've been going on longer rides and I haven't been this happy in quite a while... However the new issue that I hope is minor is the idle. After about an hour of riding the idle starts to run high at anywhere between 2500-3000 rpm. When it first occurs releasing the clutch lever slightly reduces the idle, In neutral it stays high. Then after 15 min minutes of that it just won't idle below 3000 and becomes kind if a b***h to ride. Stopping for a half an hour or so corrects the problem but then the cycle (of the cycle) starts over again. I'm thinking carbs. Any simple suggestions or do I need to clean the carbs?
