I am beginning the work on the engine and as part of that, replacing the valve seals and overhauling the top end.
I rebuilt the cylinder head in my SAAB 900 several years ago and pressed the valve seals into place with a socket per the FSM. I did not use any sort of an adhesive (although I do say I did; I added that to help others to avoid the loose stem seals). 20k miles later, one or more had come loose.
Here's the writeup I did when I overhauled it (click on the other links for the rest of the engine rebuild if you're interested):

When you all replace valve stem seals, do you press them into place and call it good or do you use an adhesive? Loctite 454 was recommended as the adhesive of choice for valve stem seals.
