First I wanted to say, this forum is excellent, I've learned a great deal here in the last week. So I bought a '97 XJ600 as my first bike last month, and today I decided it would be good idea to clean the carbs. Replaced the float bowl gasket and needle, o-rings etc. as well. However, when I was putting it back together, I got a little frisky with the acorn nut that I believe is below the needle jet. The top of the nut broke off and left the rest of the threads inside.

Do I have to get the threaded stem part out and order a new nut? Or can I just leave it in there? I don't know if the threads themselves can maintain a seal or not, or what the nut itself even does honestly.
