Kinda dumb front brake question?

In what order does the copper washers go when re-installing the brake line to the master cyclinder? I have two small washers and thought they sandwiched the brake line end for washer-brakeline-washer but something in my head is telling me that they went between the end of the bolt and brake line and that the brake line end went right against the MC. I might be crazy but could you help a dude out?
