Hey guys, just introduced myself on the intro forum, here is the link http://www.xjrider.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3733
Love the bike, and am already in the process of making her whole and pretty again. She ran great, until one day, I started her up, let her warm up(takes a while on these bikes), pulled the clutch lever in, put it in first, and it died :what: . Didn't make a grinding sound or anything. Tried to get it in gear several times with no luck. So, I figured maybe the clutch wasn't disengaging all the way. Pulled the lever off, lubed the cable up all nice and what not, and bam, same thing. :wallbash: Then I adjusted the clutch cable with the little adjuster by the lever. Started with it all the way in, and worked my way out and back in with a quarter turn each time. Still no luck.

Let her sit for the rest of the day, and started her up the next morning, warmed her up, put her in gear, not a problem. Didn't die or anything. Did that several times, and she didn't die or stall out once. I was happy, so I went over to my girlfriends. 5-6 hours later I started the bike up again, put her in gear, and drove her home. Once again, she didn't stall out or die once when I put in in gear. However, once I got home, I shut the bike off, went inside, opened the garage door, turned her back on, went to put in in gear, and BAM! she dies. Didnt grind, just died. :censor: That was last night. Tried again this morning, and still no luck.

I am thoroughly confused, and so are my friends that have more experience with motorcycles than I do. Any ideas?
If it helps, I can't start the bike with the clutch lever pulled in and the bike in first. I used to be able to, but not anymore. Could it be that little sensor on the clutch lever? If so, is there a way to bypass that or loop it so Its always "closed" or "depressed"?

Thanks guys! Love the forum!

I will hopefully have some pictures up shortly.
