chain question

tonight I noticed my chain was loose while i was riding, so i pulled in the garage and adjusted it to about 1" play up and down. but i think i might have the wrong chain on my bike. with the chain tight, i can pull the chain away from the rear sprocket. my question, is the stock sprocket set for a 530 chain? i have tons of adjustment left in the adjusters, so im not sure if its a 520 chain on 530 sprockets, or if the previous owner took links out of a worn out chain. the rear sprocket is showing a little wear. i think it might be time for a new chain and sprockets.
