camshaft timing,

Can anyone tell me or post a picture what positions the camshafts have to be in when at tdc?

While working on my bike and replacing the cam chain, my friend took the camshafts out before i could mark them.

I see the camshafts have letters such as I & D on one and C & E on the other , what do these mean?
