Progressive 420 rear rebound issue?

Recently I noticed a creaking sound coming from my progressive 420 rear monoshock when I get up off the bike and the suspension rebounds. The rebound is incredibly slow as well. The shock only has about 7-9k miles on it, should it be acting this way? Is this something that I should adjust on the shock? I'm not entirely sure what could have caused this. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
