failing oil pressure switch?

Occasionally, the oil light will come on while my bike is running, even though the oil level is within normal range. My wife and I were just on an out of state two-up trip and it happened a few times on our second day but was fine on the way home. Anyone else have this happen to them? The current theory is a failing oil pressure switch/sensor.
