Hi All

I'm new so please be gentle :) . I wasn't sure where to post this thread because it isn't a problem as such, more of a request for knowledge.

I bought a 1998 XJ600N a couple of weeks ago. The bike has a very good service history so I haven't done anything to the bike yet. However, because I will be riding every single day of the year, in all weathers (because I can  ) I want to make sure the plugs and leads are all in perfect condition. I notice the plug caps appear to be the non-resistor types. A decent search on the internet for replacements seems to only offer the new resistor caps only. I've found the thread on here which confirms Yamaha advise to replace the 10k ohm non-resistor caps with 5k ohm resistor caps, but keeping the same CR8E plugs.

My question really is - will the change in resistance affect anything else? Do I need to replace anything else at the same time to avoid problems?

I'm a little bit technically minded but plug caps and resistance is new for me, so please treat me like an idiot in this respect :kudos:

Many thanks in advance

DJ
