Slipper clutch ?

Does anyone know if the XJ came with a factory slipper clutch ? I noticed that the clutch seems to slip under hard acceleration at really high RPM's ( 8500 and above ). It only slips for a second then it seems to lock up and continues to accelerate. During normal riding it does not seem to slip at all, at least not that I can detect. Does anyone know if this is normal or is it a sign of a failing clutch ? By the way I am using 20 W 50 motorcycle oil on a fresh oil change. Has anyone else experienced this from their bikes or is it just me ?
