Draft Autosave?

Would it be possible to set the set the post creation function up to automatically save a draft of your post as it’s being typed until it’s actually posted? I just lost a massive post to the ether because I got logged out in the middle of creating it. Usually I do big OPs in word or something first and copy-paste, but I didn’t this time.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
