dual sport

I was washing my XJ in my drive Saturday, when a fellow from down the streets walks up, we walk around and talk about the XJ and he starts talking about wanting to find something like the XJ and make a dual sport out of it. now the way he was talking of dual sport I think he was talking dirt roads, maybe gravel roads, a few good trails, no jumps or heavy mud, not a dirt bike with blinkers, but a 80-20 road to dirt road bike. anyone here ever toyed with the idea
